Maintenance Supervisor
Brisbane, QLD · Full time · Negotiable
About The Opportunity
We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client in the food processing and manufacturing industry, seeking experienced Maintenance Supervisor to join their operations. The position offers an opportunity to contribute to a well-established organisation by overseeing maintenance activities, leading maintenance teams, and ensuring the reliability, safety and efficiency of plant equipment and production operations.
Key Responsibilities
• Verify permits and isolations at the job before work starts; authorised and expected to refuse to start work that is not in order • Live LOTO/PTW/SWMS practice — walk isolation verification from memory, every time • Report near misses rather than burying them; build a crew culture that does the same • Set the standard the crew works to, on the tools, shift after shift • Correct poor work or unsafe behaviour on the spot, including with peers, without damaging the working relationship • Allocate work fairly across the crew's mix of ability and experience; supervise apprentices appropriately • Check work quality and SAP close-out before a job is called done — hours, parts, findings, coding, attachments • Catch and fix desk-closing or rework same shift; coach the tradesperson, don't just fix it silently • Treat SAP history as part of the job, not paperwork bolted onto it • Make safe, triage, communicate and escalate early with facts on every breakdown • Keep Operations informed with honest restoration estimates rather than the answer they want to hear • Escalate when the recovery plan is genuinely threatened, with a proposed response — not after it's already failed • Ensure crew notifications carry proper detail and damage/cause codes to feed the Planner and Reliability Engineer • Connect floor observation to planned work — a notification that prevents a bigger failure is the standard, not the exception • Coach the crew to raise notifications rather than working around problems silently • Hand over live isolations, open jobs and outstanding risks explicitly between shifts — nothing assumed • Hand over a job mid-repair with job state, parts staged, and what Operations has been promised, made explicit • Issue the per-shift handover report every shift, without exception • Enforce site safety and food safety standards on every job the crew performs • Ensure statutory and registered-plant tasks assigned to the crew are completed on time — zero avoidable overdue regulatory items
